  • I am Jill Watson, Receptionist / Attendance Clerk for Lamar Elementary School. This will be my 5th year at Lamar and I am very excited about the changes that are coming to this wonderful school! I have 2 children who have attended Lamar from kindergarten, so this school and staff holds a very special spot in my heart. I truly believe it is an amazing school and take great pride in being a part of it. I love having a hand in supporting our administrators and teachers. Also, I enjoy my interaction each day with Lamar Rockstar students and their families. I am always happy to offer assistance in any way possible to make this a great school year for you and your student!
  • My name is Dena Poteet and it is my sincere honor to be your Assistant Principal at Lamar Elementary. I am excited to be a part of an amazing team of teachers, students, families and administrators. With twelve years of experience in education, it is a pleasure to serve our learning community and contribute to a successful school year in every way I can. At Lamar, our students are prepared to thrive as 21st century learners as they explore real-world problems and engage in meaningful learning. The staff and administrative team holds the highest standards for all students, while providing a safe and loving environment. High expectations for responsibility, respect, and integrity create a positive atmosphere that promotes student growth academically and socially. I look forward to collaborating with our dedicated staff, families, and administrative team to help provide the best educational experience for our students. I am blessed with the opportunity to be a part of the Lamar Rockstar family. Go Lamar Rockstars!
  • My name is Janie Castillo and I am the translator for Lamar Elementary. I graduated from Greenville High School in 2001. I have one child and his name is Juan and he is 7 years old. He is a student at Lamar Elementary. I love and enjoy my surroundings around children. During my free time, I love to spend time with my family and go swimming, read, and listen to music. Most of all, I do enjoy being a part of GISD and a Lamar RockSTAR!
  • This will be my third year at Lamar, and I am very excited about the upcoming school year! I have been a school counselor since 2007, and worked in Paris ISD as a teacher and counselor for 15 years before moving to Greenville. My degrees are in Psychology and English, and before becoming certified to teach, I was a reporter for two different newspapers, worked in a psychiatric hospital, and was a mental health caseworker. I believe what ties my varied experiences together is that I love working with people, and have a keen interest in what makes them "tick!" As a school counselor, my greatest reward is seeing the students I work with succeeding academically while also becoming responsible and caring citizens. Besides loving my work as a school counselor, I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and especially being "Gigi" to my two beautiful grandchildren, Elliot and Lucy, age 2 years and 3 months, respectively. I love reading, hiking, going to festivals and street fairs, and playing Scrabble, cards and other board games. As we begin the 2017-18 school year, I sincerely look forward to working together with students, parents and Lamar staff to make our school the best it can be! Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns at 903-453-6604.
