Bowie School is located at 6005 Stonewall. Bowie serves nearly 500 students from Kindergarten through 5th grades, and meets TEA academic standards.
The professional staff at Bowie is dedicated to seeking out opportunities to improve and further develop instructional methodologies that will create engaging work for students so that each child takes an active role in the learning process. Part of this is coming about by GISD and Bowie professional staff working with the renowned Schlechty Center. This partnership helps the staff learn how to better design engaging, meaningful and relevant work that will help move students from strategic compliance to a more frequent level of authentic engagement.
In addition to the core academic program, students also enjoy the opportunity to learn how to play stringed instruments such as the violin or cello through the Suzuki Strings program. We also offer our Talented and Gifted students (TAG) opportunities to participate in an instructional enrichment program. Other programs afforded our students include Destination Imagination (D/I), robotics (5th grade) and UIL academic competition (2nd – 5th grades).
We welcome the involvement of our parents and community, so if you’re interested in partnering with Bowie to help students succeed, please contact the office and ask how to become a volunteer.
