District announces administrative changes |
The Greenville school district, moving to fill two key vacancies on its administrative staff, on Tuesday named a new principal at the high school and a new head of human resources.
Mike Clyde, principal at Greenville Middle School the past two years, was approved as the principal at Greenville High School, while Rick Lynch, Director of Secondary Education and a former GHS principal, was named Executive Director of Human Resources.
Clyde will assume the mantle at GHS on July 1 and will take over for Don Jefferies, who assumes his duties as the district’s Superintendent of Schools next week. Lynch will take over for Scott Potter, who is leaving the district after accepting a position with the Region 10 Education Service Center in Richardson.
Both appointments were approved unanimously at Tuesday’s regular Board of Trustees meeting.
“I’m very excited about the opportunity for continuing the success and growth that has been started by Mr. Jefferies,” said Clyde. “I’m thrilled to be joining a successful faculty and staff and am committed to build on that growth.”
Before coming to Greenville, Clyde worked for three years in the Stafford Municipal School District, where he served as assistant high school principal and principal of Stafford Middle School. Prior to that, he served for two years as principal of Burton High School/Junior High, a grade 7-12 facility.
He also has 20 years of experience as a teacher/coach, including 12 years as the head coach and athletic director at Overton High School.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from Southern Arkansas University, his master’s degree from Southern Oklahoma University and his mid-management certification from the University of Texas at Tyler.
Lynch has been in the district for 35 years and previously served as an assistant principal and principal at GHS.
Lynch earned his bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University in 1970 and his master's degree from East Texas State University in 1977. After a one-year stint at Winters High School, he taught American History and coached football, basketball and tennis at Greenville Junior High from 1973 through 1981.
He shifted to GHS in 1981 and taught World Geography and coached junior varsity basketball and football for seven years, freshmen boys basketball for four years, and girls basketball for three years.
“I look forward to the new challenge,” said Lynch, who has worked for Greenville ISD for 35 years. “I hope to continue serving the staff and students of this school district.”
Potter departs the district at the end of April and served as assistant principal and principal at GHS before moving to the Administration Building. He earned degrees from East Texas State University and began his teaching career in Richardson in 1979 and taught in Rains ISD before joining the Plano school system in 1984.
Potter has lived in Greenville for more than 25 years.
