“Graduation” Spaghetti Dinner, sports auction set |
Items autographed by Nolan Ryan are among several valuable sports memorabilia items that will be auctioned soon, all for the benefit of Greenville’s High School’s “Project Graduation” program.
Three autographed 8 x 10 Ryan photographs, plus an autographed baseball, will be among the items auctioned at the upcoming Project Graduation Spaghetti Dinner & Sports Memorabilia Auction.
The dinner is set for Friday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the GHS Cafeteria. The cost to attend is $10 per person and includes salad, spaghetti, bread and dessert.
Tickets can be purchased at the Greenville ISD Administration Office, 3504 King, or at American National Bank, located at 5809 Wesley Street. More information is available by calling 903.453.2601.
Items to be auctioned include the aforementioned Ryan items, a framed #75 Green Bay Packers jersey autographed by NFL Legend Forrest Gregg and autographed NASCAR items from drivers Tony Stewart and Bobby LaBonte.
The items are currently on display in the lobby of American National Bank.
Project Graduation is aimed helping Greenville seniors avoid illegal substances while still celebrating their graduation this spring. The name “Project Graduation” was coined years ago by planners in Maine, where a total of eighteen people had died in two graduation seasons due to alcohol-related crashes.
Maine’s first Project Graduation was such a success that high schools throughout the state adopted similar programs, and “Project Graduation” became a generic name for the chemical-free graduation parties that have started a new tradition nationally - celebrating safely.
Seniors attending Greenville High School have had the opportunity to participate in a number of events, including a Talent Show and dodge ball tournaments. These events lead up to an all-night lock-in for seniors after graduation in June.
