My name is Jason Tharp and I am so honored to be the Principal of Lamar Elementary. There is a long standing tradition of excellence at Lamar that I will uphold. I graduated from Greenville High School in 1999 and attended Texas A&M-College Station for my undergraduate degree. After that I moved to Austin, TX to be with my future wife who is a Longhorn. Imagine the conversations we have at Thanksgiving! I worked as a 4th and 5th grade teacher for 5 years in Elgin ISD and while teaching I received my Masters in Educational Administration from Texas State in San Marcos. I then accepted an Assistant Principal position in Elgin ISD which I held for two years. The birth of our daughter, Kendall, led us back to Greenville to be closer to family. I was the Assistant Principal of Commerce Middle School for one year and the Assistant Principal of the Sixth Grade Center and Travis Elementary in Greenville ISD for one year before accepting my current position.
