Raytheon Supplies GISD

Thanks to the generosity of Raytheon GBS, elementary students in Greenville ISD are enjoying new school supplies this year. The company donated over 200 items including Kleenex, pencils, paper, glue, crayons and rulers.

Stacy Foley, Senior Finance Associate and one of the drive organizers, stated, “At Raytheon we are honored to support the community where we work, so when we were making plans for a Back to School activity, we decided there was no better way to do this than to host a School Supply Drive. As parents, many of us understand the sudden expense of getting school supplies and standardized clothes at the beginning of school, especially for families with several school age kids. We hope what we gave was able to relieve the schools to be able to fill in where it's needed when students can't provide their own school supplies.”

Greenville ISD will utilize the supplies in the district’s afterschool enrichment program, ACE. Over 1,000 students in Greenville ISD participated in ACE last year. ACE students, when compared to non-ACE students, had higher subject grades, higher attendance rates, lower discipline removals and higher promotion rates.

Kelli Tharp, Director of Community Services, stated, “Greenville ISD and our programs like ACE are strengthened through relationships with generous community partners. We are so grateful for this donation and all of our community partnerships that continually enrich the services and programs we offer.”
