GHS FFA Earn Big at 2016 Hunt County Fair

Last week, Greenville High School FFA had 30 students participate in the Hunt County Fair agricultural competitions and events. Through event sales and booster involvement, the GHS FFA students raised over $35,000.

The GHS FFA program entered 15 students in the market animal show, several of which had multiple entries. Of those 15, 13 sold their animal in the Sale of Champions held on Sat., April 30.  Through the Sale of Champions, the GHS FFA students sold a total of $28,609.20. In addition to market sales earnings, the Greenville FFA Booster Club gave $6,600 to the students’ totals, making a grand total of $35,209.20 at this year’s Hunt County Fair.

“Our students worked diligently and put in many hours over the last week,” said FFA Ag teacher, Kristi Thompson. “Days started very early and nights ended very late – they repeated this over a week long period to care for their animals and projects in order to represent Greenville FFA to the best of their ability.  Greenville FFA Ag teachers are very proud of our students’ accomplishments,” she said.

The FFA program at Greenville High School is one of the many vibrant offerings in Greenville ISD. For more information on Greenville FFA, contact Kristi Thompson at thompsonk@greenvilleisd.com.
