GMS VEX Gigabots Compete in VEX Starstruck Tournament at GHS

On Saturday, Nov. 12th, Greenville Middle School entered eight robots in the Greenville Middle School VEX Starstruck Tournament held at the new Career and Technology Center at Greenville High School. GMS performed well with all eight robots continuing onto the elimination rounds.

The GMS Gigabots 2148E, made up of Josue Adame, Dawson Diggs, Trenton Hale, Caleb Johnson, and Sistinas Stretch, finished fourth in the qualification rounds and selected GMS Gigabots 2148C, whose members are David Voss, Jacob Linden, Samuel Martin, Matthew McFarland, and Eric Anderson, to form the third alliance. They finished the tour

nament in second place.

Gigabots team 2148E also received the Design Award, presented to a team that demonstrates an organized and professional approach to the design process, project and time management and team organization.

Team 2148D, whose members are Travis Bowers, Corbin Row, Maxwell Staggs, and Clay Gibson, received the Build Award, given to a team that has built a well-crafted and constructed robot that also shows a clear dedication to safety and attention to detail.

Team 2148A, made up of Eli DeLeon, Landon Fry Rowland, Brandon Stephens, Elijah Wofford, and Jovani Rodriguez, received the Create Award, given to a team whose robot design incorporates a creative engineering solution to the design challenges of this year’s game.

Team 2148F, whose members are Vanessa Ortega, Isiah Lowe, Thomas Mattson, Connor Martin and Brandon Moore, received the Judges Award. The Judges Award goes to a team that the judges decide is deserving of special recognition.

The Gigabots will next compete in the Rockwall-Heath VEX Starstruck Middle School Tournament at Rockwall-Heath High School on December 17th.
