Announcing our November Hero of Hope

L.P. Waters Cafeteria Manager Michelle Wilson had a surprise visit Friday afternoon when her principal and a few other friends dropped by to deliver a bouquet of flowers and some good news.

Mrs. Wilson is known for her joyful spirit and her fondness for L.P. Waters' prekindergarten students.

"She always greets the students and knows them all by name," said teacher Les Albritton, who nominated Michelle. "If she isn't here, the students get worried about her and can't stop asking about her. They really love her, and she makes a difference in their lives."

A Hero of Hope is someone who touches the lives of students and encourages them to be the best they can be.

Every month (September– May), one districtwide Hero of Hope will be selected and honored at the School Board meeting.

Mrs. Wilson will be honored at the next school board meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14. She will also receive $100, thanks to Lone Star Credit Union, the official underwriter of Greenville ISD's Hero of Hope program. Her beautiful flowers were donated by Adkisson's Florist.

"One of the greatest opportunities we have as educators is to change the life of a child," Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins said. "Since that is the most important focus of our work, this is one of the highest honors we can give to an employee."

Whether you are a student, parent, employee or community member, please take the time to nominate your Hero of Hope by filling out a form located in every Greenville ISD campus and building.
