Did You Know?

Students in Mrs. Thompson's Livestock classes worked in teams to identify how aminals are used in the production of products in the United States.

They then made posters and presented their findings to the classmates.

I had no idea of some of the uses of livestock until I visited the Livestock class and saw the students' presentation. The by-products of pigs are used in the making of fireworks, chewing gum, candies, drumheads, and antifreeze.

Cows' by-products are used in making shampoos, cayons and grocery bags, along with many items used in cars - car seats, car tires, car bodies and hydraulic brake fluid.

Some countries even use animal fat in making their money.
