• School Board election - May 4, 2019

    The following citizens, listed alphabetically, have filed as candidates to run for election to serve a three-year term on the Greenville ISD Board of Trustees:

    Place 1

    • Anne Haynes (incumbent)

    Place 6 

    Greenville ISD is divided into seven single-member districts with one trustee representing each district. Candidates are required to live in their respective districts to run for those offices. Terms for Place 1 and Place 6 will expire in 2019. Click HERE to see a map of the voting districts. 

    Key dates

    • Monday, Dec. 17, 2018: School district posts notice to file applications for place on the ballot
    • Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019: First day for a candidate to submit an application for a place on the ballot or declare write-in candidacy
    • Friday, Feb. 15, 2019 (5 p.m.): Last day for a candidate to file an application for a place on the ballot
    • Friday, Feb. 15, 2019: Deadline to order a general election to be held Saturday, May 4, 2019
    • Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019 (5 p.m.): Last day for write-in candidates to file declarations of write-in candidacy
    • Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019: First day to post notice of drawing for place on ballot (must be posted 72 hours immediately preceding the time of the drawing) 
    • Friday, Feb. 22, 2019 (5 p.m.): Last day for a candidate (including a write-in candidate) to withdraw by submission of a notarized certificate of withdrawal or a notarized letter. If a candidate does not file the withdrawal before the deadline, the candidates name will remain on the ballot, and any votes for that candidate must be counted in the regular manner. 
    • Friday, Feb. 22, 2019: Recommended first day that an election may be canceled 
    • Thursday, April 4, 2019: Last day to register to vote & last day to make change of address effective for the May 4 election
    • Wednesday, April 15, 2019: Last day to post notice of election on bulletin board on GISD website
    • Monday, April 22, 2019: First day to vote early by personal appearance
    • Wednesday, April 24, 2019: Last day notice of election to be published in the local newspaper
    • Tuesday, April 30, 2019: Last day to vote early by personal appearance
    • Saturday, May 4, 2019: Election Day

    Candidate information

     As the local filing authority, the school district is responsible for posting required notices and accepting applications. The school district furnishes application forms for no charge. Applications for a place on the ballot may also be downloaded and printed out from the Secretary of State's website at http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/forms/

    Candidates are responsible for learning about the election process and completing all the required paperwork. Before becoming a candidate, citizens are advised to contact the Texas Ethics Commission for information on campaign contribution reports, the appointment of a campaign treasurer, and personal financial statements that you may be required to file.
