Generous donors give Christmas day smiles to more than 100 GISD children
The spirit of giving was alive and well in Greenville during the holidays. GISD Parent Involvement Facilitator Whitney Threatt witnessed it for herself, as she spent the month “playing elf” for many Greenville ISD families in need. With the generosity of many donors, over 100 children had smiles on their faces on Christmas morning.

GHS senior and local family pair up to donate shoes
Donating over 200 pairs of shoes is no small feat for Greenville High School senior Alan Rios. With the help of Cliff, Brooke and Morgan Jones, he more than tripled his first shoe donation from September 2021.

GISD PRIDE Center hosts first Health2Care event
On Wednesday evening, the GISD PRIDE Center was open for the first Health2Care event, where community members were invited to visit with representatives from several healthcare organizations.

Greenville Firefighters Association Local 997 partners with GISD to provide clear backpacks to students
When firefighter Tony Muñoz learned that Greenville ISD was raising funds to purchase clear backpacks for students in need, he said he knew he had to find a way to help. After proposing the idea of sponsoring backpacks to the Greenville Firefighters Association Local 997, his brothers in service wholeheartedly supported a $1,000 donation to benefit local students.

L3Harris donates disinfecting wipes for GISD classrooms
In an effort to promote healthy schools, L3Harris has generously donated a pallet of Lysol disinfecting wipes to be used in classrooms across the district. With the impacts of COVID still lingering nationwide and flu season just around the corner, the donation came at just the right time.

L3Harris partners with GISD to provide clear backpacks for students
L3Harris is once again upLIFTing our district through their community service initiative called L3Harris Investing for Tomorrow, also known as LIFT. Not only did they provide a $2,500 grant to help purchase clear backpacks for students in need, several L3Harris employees volunteered to sort and deliver the backpacks to each Greenville ISD campus.

He’s done it again. This time, even bigger!
In September, Greenville High School 11th grader Alan Rios donated more than 60 pairs of brand new, brand name shoes for students in need across the district. Alan doubled his previous donation and provided over 120 pairs of new shoes. Thanks to his generosity, hundreds of students will be able to head into summer with new shoes made by brands they have dreamed of owning.

Greenville ISD’s Partners Program is off and running with two partners using our online portal to fulfill campus needs!
Two of our first partners, One Church and The Salvation Army of Hunt County, have helped us kick off the VOLY exchange system by donating items through the portal.

Although the Greenville community may be considered small compared to nearby cities, we definitely take care of our own in times of need. When GHS parent Amy Millison heard that a fellow GISD parent was in need of steel toe boots to start a new job, she took the opportunity to give back.

Donate a formal dress or suit to make prom possible for all students
Prom night is seen as a rite of passage for many, marking the end of a soon-to-be graduate’s high school career. With the costs of class rings, yearbooks, graduation announcements and many other expenses associated with senior year, an expensive prom dress or suit is one less item on the list thanks to the GHS Lions Lair Formal Wear Boutique.

How a $5,000 donation from L3Harris touched the lives of 5 GISD families
One of the great things about the Greenville community is the way it pulls together when there is a need. A recent example is how a $5,000 donation from the L3Harris Engineering Department touched the lives of five families.
"When we received the donation, we had no idea how far it would go," GISD Parent Involvement Facilitator Whitney Threatt said. "Almost immediately, we learned about several families in need."
