Want to Give Your Child the EDGE?
On Tuesday, September 27th from 6:30 to 8:30pm, Greenville ISD will be hosting a free seminar with two, nationally renowned speakers. The speakers will be offering practical suggestions on increasing student outcomes, understanding children’s individual needs, cultivating mutual parent/teacher support and relieving stress for both teachers and parents.
The EDGE (E-Education; D-Direction; G-Guidance; E-Excellence) is the name given to the annual parent education workshop hosted by GISD in partnerships with Drug Free Greenville and the Region 10 Educational Service Center.
The workshop, open to all GISD parents, teachers and administrators will highlight two speakers, both in English and Spanish. GISD is fortunate to have Region 10 collaborating with us to bring presentations by high-quality speakers.
Ako Kambon, a nationally recognized education consultant and motivational speaker, is the president of the Visionary Leaders Institute and has served as Executive Administrator of the Ohio Commission on African American Males. Mr. Kambon will be presenting in English in the GHS auditorium.
Jose Velazquez currently works at the Region 10 Educational Service Center as a BE/ESL and Migrant Consultant. Mr. Velazquez will be speaking in Spanish in the GHS library.
Transportation to and from the high school will be provided with pick-up at 5:30 p.m. from the following locations:
Bethlehem Baptist, 3809 Lee
Carter Temple C.M.E. Church, 1404 Marshall
Carver Elementary School, 2110 College

Childcare and a snack will be provided for students ages 3 – 12. Children should be signed in by 6:00 pm to assure a spot.
GISD is very appreciative to all of our parent representatives who serve on the district parent involvement committee to improve home/school relationships and to Drug Free Greenville for all of their support.
Please bring your children and enjoy the insights you will acquire and the leadership qualities they will obtain.
