Identification and Assessment

Kindergarten:

All Kindergarten students enrolled at the time of testing will be screened for possible further Gifted and Talented testing. No referral is needed since all students are automatically screened.

First grade-Twelfth grade:

Greenville ISD will conduct two Gifted and Talented referral windows for two separate grade bands.

  • The referral window for 5th grade through 12th grade will be from January 13 - 24.
  • The referral window for 1st grade through 4th grade will be April 7 - 24.

Any staff member, parent, or community member may refer a student. We encourage anyone who questions whether a student may need Gifted and Talented services to refer them during the appropriate window. During the window, you may request a referral form from your campus. The referal forms are linked below.

Assessment Window and Placement

In grades 5th through 12th, the assessment process will be completed in the Spring, and placement in services will begin the following Fall.

In grades 1st through 4th, the assessment process will take place in the Fall, and placement of services will begin in the Fall.

The referral form will be available at your campus office during the referral window and is also available as a link below.

Transfer Students

If a student enrolling at Greenville ISD received Gifted and Talented Services from their previous district, testing documentation needs to be provided to the student’s campus. Once received, the District Gifted and Talented Committee will review the information and make a determination on placement in the program. If the information provided meets the district requirements, parent permission will be obtained. Greenville ISD has 30 days to make this determination. In the best interest of the students, this process will take place in a timely manner.

If you need further information, please reach out to your campus office.
