GHS Realizes Best TAKS Scores in School History

The Greenville High School Junior Class achieved the best TAKS scores in the district’s history this year. The overall scores are representative of the zealous dedication of the students, the support and encouragement from their families and the guidance and direction from the Greenville ISD faculty.

GHS principal Heath Jarvis stated, “We are very pleased and proud of the TAKS scores produced by our junior class. The students, teachers, assistant principals, and the staff members at GHS have put in a lot of hard work through the years to achieve this success.”

Overall student scores realized a 90% passing rate in Math, 95% passing rate in science, 97% passing rate in English Language Arts and a 99% passing rate in Social Studies. The accountability system rates any passing score of 90% or better as exemplary.

Superintendent Don Jefferies speaks to the results enthusiastically, “This is a phenomenal accomplishment and a very positive statement about the efforts of the high school staff and all the other teachers that preceded them in preparing our students for this “Exit” test. I could not be more pleased with the results to this increasingly difficult standardized testing system.”

As Debra Gossett, Greenville High School Assistant Principal, would say, “It is a great day to be a Lion.”
