GMS VEX Robotics Teams are Champions Once Again

GREENVILLE, TEX.--The Greenville Middle School VEX Robotics Team, the Gigabots , competed in the McKamy Middle School VEX Skyrise Tournament in Flower Mound over the weekend. The Gigabots had an excellent tournament, finishing the qualification rounds with six teams in the top eight positions. Team 2148E went on to become tournament champions. The Gigabots also walked away with five additional awards. The team results are as follows:

Team 2148E, comprised of Dallas Davies, Nick Stromberg, Kian Smith, Cheyenne Sailing, and Heaven Phillips, finished the qualification rounds ranked third. They selected Gigabots Team 2148J, made up of Alex Portillo, Brandon Leblanc, and Joshua Allen, and McKamy Trifecta Team 8909A from Flower Mound to win the tournament.

Team 2148A, which includes Jordan Frimpter, Trenton Burns, Austin Burns, Tessa Mitchell, and Yeonsoo Jung, received the Excellence Award, the highest honor awarded in Vex Competition Robotics. They finished the qualification rounds ranked first and selected Gigabots Team 2148D, made up of Noah Stone, Faith Clayton, Corbin Hudgins, and Brady Diggs, and Gigabots Team 2148H, whose members are Kacie Weeks, Addey Carroll, Luis Ugalde, Dulce Romero, and Zach Foster to form the first seeded alliance. This alliance finished in the Semifinals.

Team 2148B, comprised of Alysia Martinez, Joshua Ross, Daniel Ugalde, and Francisca Gutierrez, won the Design Award and finished the qualification rounds ranked second. They selected Gigabots Team 2148F, Romeo Gomez, Henri Haxiaj, Ethan Winters, Neil Smith, and Rodey Wiggins, winners of the Sportsmanship Award, and Mustang Robotics Team 3310D from Rockwall-Heath to form the second seeded alliance. They finished the tournament in the semifinals.

Team 2148C, made up of Pierce Thurmond, Javier Littlefield, Ethan McGee, and Brett Ozarowski, finished the qualification rounds ranked sixth and joined Digital Dynamics Teams 1201A from Rockwall and Robo Prodigies Team 8909D from Flower Mound, forming the fifth seeded alliance. They finished the tournament as Finalists.

Team 2148G, whose members are Hannah Cowgill, Kamden Priest, Kylie Locke, Reese Tubbs, and Wyatt Spivey, were selected by McKamy RRS Team 8909B from Flower Mound to form the sixth seeded alliance. They finished in the quarterfinals.
