6th Grade Center VEX Robotics named State Champs

Cyborgs are VEX IQ World Championship Bound

GREENVILLE, TEX.– Ten VEX IQ Greenville Sixth Grade Center Robotics teams (The Cyborgs) competed in the North Texas VEX IQ High-rise Regional Championship at Greenville High School this past Saturday. This tournament crowns State Champions and qualifies teams for the 2015 VEX IQ Robotics World Championship –Elementary and Middle School Division in Louisville, Kentucky.

Three of the ten teams entered qualified for the Playoffs. Cyborg Coach, James Hardaway, said “Ms. Mcfarland and I are very proud of team 3148A and all that they have accomplished this year. They won two tournaments and finished in first place in the regional/state tournament which ensured them a place in the VEX IQ World Championship in Louisville, KY in April.”

Cyborgs team 3148A, whose members (present) were Josue Adame and Thomas Mattson, finished the qualification rounds in second place. They formed the Number One Alliance with Team 1201A, the Digital Dynamics from Utley Middle School in Rockwall. They were named Tournament and State Champions and have earned a place in the 2015 VEX World Championship-Elementary School Division. The VEX World Championship will be held in Louisville, KY on April 15-18th. At the World Championship, the Cyborgs will compete with teams from countries such as China, Puerto Rico, New Zealand, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

Cyborgs team 3148B, whose members are Jayce Dickson, Joshua Luna, Jovani Rodriguez, Aranth Ramirez and KD Anderson, finished the qualification matches in sixth place. They formed the number three Alliance with Team 9090Z, T-VEX Jawz, from Arlington. They finished the tournament in second place.

Cyborgs 3148C, whose members are Clay Gibson, Gerardo Olivas, Giancarlos Belteton, Johnathan Frimpter and Matthew McFarland, finished the qualification rounds in ninth place. They joined with team 10519B, the Tiny Titans from Ouida Springer Elementary School in Rockwall to form the number five Alliance. They finished the tournament in fifth place.

The Cyborgs 3148A will travel to Richardson on March 21st to compete in the North Texas VEX IQ Highrise Tournament of Champions Hosted by Berkner Robotics.
