Melissa Waldroup named iTeachTech Teacher of the Month

GREENVILLE, TEX.— Over the past few months, the Greenville ISD Technology Department have been making strides to build up their “GISD iTeachTech” training website and program. The website is designed to encourage and educate teachers on how to properly utilize websites and apps in their classrooms in order to bring more technology into the classroom. As part of this initiative, the technology department will be recognizing a teacher each month that has successfully put the training website or program to use.

Melissa Waldroup, a teacher at Lamar Elementary School, has been chosen as the iTeachTech Teacher of the Month for March. “This classroom has used the Plickers app to help make both Math and Social Studies more engaging,” said GISD instructional technologist, Shannon Fulp.  “Plickers can be used for quick formative assessments and gives real time feedback for teachers to use. The setup takes less than 30 minutes and the cards can be used multiple times over,” Fulp continued. “All of the teachers that we have heard of using Plickers have all agreed that students love using it and it has helped with engagement. It serves as an easy way to use the iPad in your classroom.”

The GISD Technology Department will continue to recognize teachers monthly for their exemplary use of technology in the classroom.

A huge congratulations to Ms. Waldroup! Thank you for setting a great example of how to use technology in the classroom.
