GISD Welcomes New Carver Principal

Dr. Michelle Baird joins the staff at Greenville ISD this summer as the principal at Carver Elementary. Baird is a seasoned educational practitioner with six years of teaching experience and 11 years of experience as a campus administrator. 

Baird received her B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies, M.E. in Education Administration, and Ph. D in Education Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce in Commerce, Tex. She began her teaching career in Mesquite as a sixth grade teacher for five and a half years before transitioning into an Assistant Principal position for four years.

For the past seven years, Baird has served as the principal of Lewis Elementary in Forney ISD where her campus met all state standards and earned three Academic Distinctions under the TEA accountability system. 

“She will work well with our teachers, students, and parents at Carver and in the community,” said Superintendent, Don Jefferies.

Baird has been married to her husband, Steve, for 16 years.  They have two daughters, Chase, 15, and Bailey, 12. She enjoys spending time with her family and reading John Grisham books.
