GISD Welcomes New Assistant Principals

Lamar Elementary and Travis Elementary welcome new assistant principals, Lauren Habluetzel and Latisha Crockett, to their staff this fall.

Lauren previously served eight years as a fourth grade teacher at Lamar Elementary where she also chaired the Positive Behavior Intervention Committee, implemented Lamar’s First Annual Grandparents’ Day, designed a writing academy, and was a UIL coach.

Lauren said, “I'm thoroughly excited and honored to begin my administrative career at Lamar. I have loved being a part of this staff and community. Just as it was in the classroom, it's my goal to create relationships, constantly support and encourage others, and spark creativity and lifelong learning.”

Prior to teaching at Lamar, Lauren was a 3rd grade teacher in Bryan ISD. Lauren holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University in College Station and a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University in Commerce.

Latisha joins Travis Elementary after most recently serving as Administrative Supervisor over 84 campuses in the area of instruction and compliance for Special Education in Austin ISD.  Latisha also served as Special Education Coordinator and Assistant Principal in Austin ISD. Prior to her time in Austin, Latisha worked as Special Education Team Leader in McKinney ISD and as a Special Education Teacher in Greenville ISD.

Latisha said of her new position, “I am so excited to be named the Travis AP as I am a native of Greenville and attended GISD from kindergarten through high school. I am so happy to be back to serve the community that served me as a student. In my vision as an educational leader, I will work to develop a school in which faculty, parents and the community all work together in an environment that nurtures academic growth for all students.”

Latisha holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Wiley College in Marshall, Texas and a Master of Education from Regis University in Denver, Colorado.
