GISD Wins 5 Statewide Public Relations Awards

The Greenville ISD Communications Department received a Best of Category Award, two Gold Star Awards and two Silver Star Awards for excellence in school communications at the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) Star Awards Celebration at the organization’s annual conference in Austin this month.

TSPRA's annual Star Awards provide recognition for outstanding communications and projects in education. Gold, Silver and Bronze Star Awards are given for the best entries in the state. Best of category awards are given to the best overall entry in a particular category.

Greenville ISD received the Best of Category Award and a Gold Star Award for the new Greenville ISD logo. The new GISD logo successfully invokes strength and tenacity through a shield shape while incorporating the traditional use of a “G” and the district’s mascot in a unique compilation.

A Gold Star Award was also awarded to the district for an article written by the GISD communications department and published in Texas School Business. The article, a narrative on how Greenville ISD promotes STEM education and partners with businesses to bolster a skilled future workforce, was featured in the July/August 2015 edition of Texas School Business.

Silver Star Awards were awarded to the district for the revitalized GISD website, www.greenvilleisd.com, and this year’s school calendar design.

“We are honored to receive this recognition from our peers and communications professionals across the state,” said Chief Communications and Business Development Officer Kelli Tharp. “The Communications team is committed to providing the best level of service to all stakeholders and these awards honor those efforts.” The Greenville ISD communications department includes Kelli Tharp, Sydney Phillips and Sonya Cathey.
