GISD to Hold Spotlight on Student Engagement Event

As a forum to showcase programs and students, Greenville ISD will hold a district-wide Spotlight on Student Engagement on Thursday, May 19th at Greenville High School at 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. All members of the community are invited to attend free of charge.

The showcase will feature more than 70 presentations and highlight skills and lessons learned in the classroom and utilized in life. GISD boasts world-champion programs, touts dozens of state titles, utilizes revolutionary teaching methodologies, and is a district brimming with talented students and faculty. GISD leads the marketplace in the instructional practice coined “product-oriented education” through the STEM academy and one to one iPad initiative at Greenville High School. Students develop collaboration and sophisticated interpersonal talents while working on “Advanced Academic Teams,” another avant-garde teaching system. Students in Greenville ISD choose from vibrant program offerings such as, Destination Imagination, Suzuki Strings, athletics, media tech, dual-credit courses, and solar car courses, which showcase on GISD transcripts.

Class schedules are peppered with interactive opportunities designed to develop the student as a whole. Culinary Arts, Auto Body Shop, Fine Arts, Suzuki Strings, Horticulture, Vocational Agriculture, Naval ROTC, and Robotics’ classes teach more than just the “ABC’s” of education. They offer fundamental and practical trades and skills, deeper understandings of nuts, bolts and baking that last for a lifetime. The programs in GISD steer students into lifelong passions, direct their future, and help them discover vehicles that will drive them to prosperity.

This is the second year that Greenville ISD has hosted this highly successful event. If you have ever been curious as to what GISD has to offer, now is the time to stop by and explore this one-of-a-kind interactive event.
