GISD Communications Welcomes New Hire and New Possibilities

Expanding its involvement with the community has long been a focus of Greenville Independent School District. The district aims to find new ways to partner with the community and form lasting relationships that are mutually beneficial to all involved. To help accomplish these goals, Greenville ISD welcomes a new Community Relations Liaison position to the communications department.

The communications department in Greenville ISD consists of two positions, the Director of Community Relations, Sydney Hanner of Greenville, and the newly created Community Relations Liaison. Hired for the Community Relations Liaison position is Amy Wade of Greenville. Wade has degrees in interdisciplinary studies and has previously served in GISD as a Kindergarten teacher at Crockett Elementary School. Most recently, Wade has worked as a real estate agent for her family’s company, Tarpley Realtors®. Wade’s resume also includes an impressive repertoire of community involvement that makes her invaluable to the department.

Wade has served on the DrugFree Greenville Board for seven years, the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for six years, where she also served as the Board President for two years. Wade is a graduate of Leadership Hunt County (class of ’05) and currently serves on the Council PTA Board of Directors, as well as the New Horizons Career and Technology Advisory Board.

“I’m so excited about the wealth of experience that Amy brings to the table,” said Hanner, Director of the Community Relations Department. “She is a long-time advocate for the school district and has deep seeded roots in the community. That’s just going to be such an asset to the school district,” she said.

The Community Relations Liaison will work alongside the Director of Community Relations to forge new partnerships with community and business organizations, as well as maintain existing relationships. Part of that task will be to aid the College and Career Advisor at Greenville High School, Donna Toups, in forming relationships with the local business community. The liaison will also work to sell advertising opportunities to local businesses and aide the Greenville Educational Enrichment Foundation in their grant awarding activities. Wade will also serve in several community organizations as a liaison for the school district.

Wade, and her husband Jeff, are both graduates of Greenville High School and currently live in Greenville with their two daughters, Jacey (12th grade) and Jenna (7th grade). Wade’s oldest son, Justin, is a sophomore at Austin College in Sherman, TX where he plays basketball for the Roos.
