GMS VEX Robotics Qualifies for National and World Championships

On Saturday, Feb. 25, the Greenville Middle School VEX Competition Robotics Team, the Gigabots, competed in The North Texas VEX “Starstruck” State Championship held at Greenville High School. GMS had five teams that competed in this State Tournament, four of which made the playoff rounds. Team 2148C finished the tournament in second place and qualified for the VEX World Championship and the CREATE US Open Championship, both in April. Team 2148A also qualified for the CREATE US Open Championship.

Team 2148A received the Think Award, which is awarded to the team that has developed and effectively used quality programing as part of their strategy to solve the game challenge.

In addition to qualifying for the World Championships, team 2148C received the Excellence Award, given to the overall top team. It is the highest honor given out in the VEX Robotics Competition. The recipient of this award is a team that exemplifies overall excellence in creating a high quality VEX robotics program.

Team 2148H-Pablo Oropeza, David Ortega, Emiliano Portillo, Andy Shields
