GHS Cheerleaders Dazzle Judges at NCA Cheer Camp

This summer, the Greenville High School cheerleaders attended the National Cheer Association cheerleading camp held at the Gaylord Texan, where cheerleading squads from all over the state come to sharpen their skills and practice their routines. During the camp, the GHS Varsity and Junior Varsity cheerleading squads earned several team awards and All-American nominations.

The Varsity squad received four awards, including Game Day Top Team, Most Improved, Crowd Involvement Award, Stunt Safe Award, as well as winning the spirit stick each day of camp. The JV squad won three awards, including Performance Top Team, Stunt Safe Award, Best Technique, and received the spirit stick each day of camp.

In addition to the team awards, several Varsity and JV cheerleaders received All-American nominations. JV cheerleaders nominated were Kendall Darter, Kelsi McNair, Jaidyn Moore, Kennady Pryor, Maci Williams, and Ashanti Wilson. Varsity cheerleaders nominated for All-American were Jaycie Haugen, Mary Hughes, Kaileigh Swanson, and Olivia Williams. The GHS Cheerleading Mascot, Viviana Moreno, was named as an All-American mascot, and received the Most Improved Mascot award.

“The Varsity and JV teams did an amazing job at camp,” said Cheerleading Head Coach, Keith Putman. “They are dedicated and hardworking and I am very proud of them,” he said.
