Who is your Hero of Hope?

We are surrounded by unsung heroes who touch the lives of students every day. Students encounter heroes in the classroom, on the playing field, on the performance stage, on the school bus and in everyday conversations.

That's why Greenville ISD is launching Hero of Hope, a program that recognizes those employees who go the extra mile to make students feel special and help them succeed.

"One of the greatest opportunities we have as educators is to change the life of a child," Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins said. "I grew up always knowing that everyone mattered, no matter what. My high school counselor made a tremendous difference in my life. She was the one who made it possible for me to go to college. I would not be in education today if I had not met her. My mother, who was a school bus driver and then became a custodian, also inspired the students she came in contact with every day. There are kids who came to my mother's funeral and who still keep in touch with me because of that connection."

Whether you are a student, parent, employee or community member, please take the time to nominate your Hero of Hope by filling out a form located in every Greenville ISD campus and building.

Every month, the GISD School Board will honor a Hero of Hope. Each monthly winner will receive $100, thanks to Lone Star Credit Union, the official underwriter of Greenville ISD's Hero of Hope program.
