Announcing our September Hero of Hope!

Greenville Middle School teacher Pamela Duquette had a surprise visit Friday afternoon when her principal dropped by with teacher Katie Robles to deliver a bouquet of flowers and some good news.

Mrs. Duquette is the first teacher in Greenville ISD to be named a Hero of Hope.

"She is truly a hero, and she is so deserving of this honor," said Greenville Middle School Principal David Gish. "Mrs. Duquette has a huge heart for our students, and she is incredibly humble and hardworking."

Fellow teacher Katie Robles nominated Mrs. Duquette for the award.

"Mrs. Duquette works so hard to help her students succeed. She never gives up on anyone, no matter how difficult the situation may be," Mrs. Robles wrote on her nomination. "She goes above and beyond."

A Hero of Hope is someone who touches the lives of students and encourages them to be the best they can be.

Every month (September– May), one districtwide Hero of Hope will be selected and honored at the School Board meeting.

Mrs. Duquette will be honored at the next school board meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26. She will also receive $100, thanks to Lone Star Credit Union, the official underwriter of Greenville ISD's Hero of Hope program. Her beautiful flowers were donated by Adkisson's Florist.

"One of the greatest opportunities we have as educators is to change the life of a child," Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins said. "Since that is the most important focus of our work, this is one of the highest honors we can give to an employee."

Whether you are a student, parent, employee or community member, please take the time to nominate your Hero of Hope by filling out a form located in every Greenville ISD campus and building.

Every month, the GISD School Board will honor a Hero of Hope. Each monthly winner will receive $100, thanks to Lone Star Credit Union, the official underwriter of Greenville ISD's Hero of Hope program.
