VEX Robotics State Champions

Greenville VEX Robotics Students took top honors in two VEX World Championship qualifying tournaments that were held in Greenville February 24. Here are the details:

 

· Seventy-three robots descended upon Greenville ISD to compete in the North Texas VEX High School/Middle School Championship. Both tournaments were held in the Greenville High School Gym.

· GHS’s VEX Iron Cowboys team 4148D whose members are Sam Martin, Jovani Rodriguez, David Voss and Landon Fry-Rowland joined team 9090A. T-VEX from Arlington and Team 5408A, Sachse Apollo from Sachse High School to form the number four alliance. They are Tournament Champions, which qualifies them for the VEX World Championship – High School Division.

· GHS Team 4148A whose members are Trenton Burns, Luis Ugalde, Daniel Ugalde, Charlie Murfin, and Austin Burns joined Team 25461Z, Uncharted from Fate and Team 7110A, Fired Up! From Southlake to form the number one alliance. They were eliminated in the semi-finals and have qualified for the VEX World Championship – High School Division.

· Three GMS teams advanced to the playoffs with all three advancing to at least the semi-finals.

· Team 2148C whose members are Andy Shields, Angel Gonzalez, Jarred Pastor-Parra and Daniel Wofford joined team 8909A, McKamy Tex-Vex from Flower Mound to form the number two alliance. They finished the tournament in second place. They also won the Innovate Award, which is given to a team that has the most “Innovative” design feature on their robot.

· Team 2148A whose members are Isiah Lowe, Pablo Oropeza, David Ortega and Emiliano Portillo partnered with Team 2148G consisting of Lukas Pride, Stetson Sanders, Kyle Pierce and Bentley Love to form the number four alliance. They were eliminated in the semi-finals.

· The Iron Cowboys next tournament will be the 2018 VEX Robotics World Championship - VEX Robotics Competition High School Division in Louisville, KY on 04/25/2018 - 04/28/2018.
