GISD VEX IQ Robotics took top honors in the VEX IQ World Championship qualifying tournament on March 3

Greenville VEX IQ Robotics Students took top honors in the VEX IQ World Championship qualifying tournament that were held in Greenville March 03. Here are the details:

Greenville Middle School Team 5148C, The Protobots (team members Aiden Schafft and Jared Rice):

  1. Excellence Award: The Excellence Award is the highest award presented in the VEX IQ Challenge. This award is presented to a team that exemplifies overall excellence in creating a high quality VEX robotics program. The Excellence Award qualifies the team to attend the VEX World Championship in Louisville, KY 04/29/2018 - 05/01/2018.
  2. Teamwork Champion. They are the State Champions for 2018. The Teamwork Championship qualifies for the VEX World Championship.
  3. Amaze Award: The Amaze Award is presented to a team that has built an amazing, high-scoring robot that clearly demonstrates overall quality.

Team 5148C won the two highest awards that can be earned at the North Texas VEX IQ Regional Championship (State Championship) and any VEX IQ Tournament.

 

Greenville Middle School Team 5148A (Team members John Shuler, Jose Vaca and Aryan Patel) finished the championship in 10th Place.

 

Greenville Sixth Grade Center, the Cyborgs:

  1. Team 3148N (team members Anderson Valentine, William Price and Michael Adeluyi) finished the championship in 3rd Place.
  2. Team 3148H (team members Ruben Enriquez, Caleb Salazar and Ashton Woods) finished the championship in 5th Place.
  3. Team 3148K (team members Jaxon Marshall, Kenobi Corrrales and Miquel Garcia) finished the championship in 9th Place.

 

Johnny Tharp, GISD Director of VEX Robotics says ” This program is 7 years old and now has earned 5 State Championships in these past 7 years. To say that I am proud and that it is an honor to be associated with the coaches and students is an understatement. The program has come a long way since being started in 2010.”
