Police officers and firefighters teach great life lessons at Kids Camp

Incoming sixth-graders had important conversations with area law enforcement officials about topics ranging from bullying to gun safety and drug-sniffing dogs at Kids Camp this week.

There was also plenty of fun playing dodgeball, kickball and learning about how dogs and horses work with police officers.

"This is always a great week, both for our police officers and for our students to get to know each other as people," said Greenville ISD Police Chief Ramon Rodriguez. "Sixth grade is an important transitional age when children are learning how to cope in the world of adults, and we want our students in Greenville ISD to understand that police officers and others in law enforcement are there to keep them safe."

Many thanks to the Greenville Police Department, Greenville Fire Department and GISD Police Department for their partnership and for keeping our students safe!
