GISD's Transportation Department is one of the most loyal supporters of the Greenville Educational Enrichment Foundation.

"We truly appreciate our bus drivers and others in the Transportation Department," GEEF Treasurer Penni Perkins said. "They are consistently the highest-contributing group we have."

When the Transportation Department submitted a grant asking the Foundation to purchase a trailer, Perkins said the answer from board members was a resounding yes. 

"Yours was the first grant we fulfilled this year," she told the crowd of 38 Transportation Department members gathered Aug. 15 at Greenville Middle School. "We said yes not just because we knew how much you needed it, but also because it was from you."

GEEF Board Member Jennifer Samples said that as a former teacher, she knows the impact GEEF grants make in the classroom.

"It makes a tremendous difference because GEEF can supply things that allow you to try new and innovative classroom projects that aren't covered by the campus budget," she said. "Believe me, every little bit counts when you're a teacher."
