Introducing the 2018-19 Lion Pride Band!

Director of Bands/Secondary Fine Arts Coordinator Joel Weisberg unveiled this preview of what the Lion Pride Band has in store for us this year:

Our show is entitled 'Imaginarium,' and it is written by Randall Standridge. It is a very high-energy show, and features all members of our ensemble. Woodwinds, high brass, low brass, and percussion are all center stage with our performance. We are just finishing up our 3 week summer band camp, and our students are doing GREAT to start off the year.

It is a VERY special kid who will 'donate' 3 weeks of their summer to help make our band 'team' as good as it can be! Our Band Leadership team has also set the tone for an outstanding year! They have organized a 'big brother/big sister' program for our incoming freshmen and newcomers.

In addition, they have put together several 'out of the band hall' activities. We went as a band to see the new Mission Impossible movie, and we are also taking a trek to Rockwall to go to Shenanaginz. We also have 2 new staff members for our band program. Jennifer Beck, new Assistant Director, comes to us from Seguin, TX, where she was the Assistant Director of Bands. She was a member of the Hebron High School Band, and also marched DCI with the Bluecoats. Cody Holmes is a new graduate from Texas Tech University. Cody is a very talented percussionist - not only as a performer, but as composer, as well. He already has several pieces published for percussion instruments. We welcome them both to our 'Lion Pride' Band staff!
