Bowie Elementary dual-language kindergarten teacher Bethani Leija had a surprise last week when she was named our GISD Hero of Hope for September.
Every month (September– May), one districtwide Hero of Hope will be selected and honored at the School Board meeting.
Ms. Leija will be honored at the next school board meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18. She will also receive $100, thanks to Lone Star Credit Union, the official underwriter of Greenville ISD's Hero of Hope program. Her beautiful flowers were donated by Adkisson's Florist.
"One of the greatest opportunities we have as educators is to change the life of a child," Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins said. "Since that is the most important focus of our work, this is one of the highest honors we can give to an employee."
Whether you are a student, parent, employee or community member, please take the time to nominate your Hero of Hope by filling out a form located in every Greenville ISD campus and building.
Every month, the GISD School Board will honor a Hero of Hope. Each monthly winner will receive $100, thanks to Lone Star Credit Union, the official underwriter of Greenville ISD's Hero of Hope program.
