The 'Lion Pride' Band hit a new high Dec. 3 when eight of the 33 varsity band members earned spots in the All-Region Band.
"This is a very big accomplishment for our musicians!” said GISD Director of Bands Joel L. Weisberg. “We are blessed that each and every year, our students represent themselves and GISD in such an amazingly POSITIVE way. Having eight students advancing to the Texas All-State audition is a HUGE source of PRIDE!"
The Region 3 All-Region and All-Area band competion was held at Berkner High School with the following:

The following students earned a spot in the 2019 All-Region Band:
- Lane Woffard (TOP 5A Euphonium)
- Jonathan Tapia (2nd Place 5A Trombone)
- Nic Ramirez (TOP 5A French Horn)
- Nantzi Huffman (TOP Contra Bass Clarinet)
- Derek Michaelson (Trumpet)
- Miranda Price (Flute)
- Desteny Ruiz (Flute)
- Karen Ochoa (7th Place Freshman Clarinet)
- Riley Adams (4th Place Freshman Percussion)
In addition, eight students have advanced to the area audition in January. This audition determines the Texas All-State Band. Students going to Area are:
