6 GISD teams have strong showing and win a total of 7 awards

Greenville High School hosted a VEX IQ tournament on Saturday for local elementary and middle school teams. Students from GHS were on hand to run the event including members from the Iron Cowboys GHS VEX robotics team, and students from the Early College High School.

45 teams from around the DFW area competed including teams from the Greenville 6th grade center (SGC) and Greenville Middle School (GMS). It was a very successful event for the Greenville teams!

Team 5148C from Greenville Middle School were Tournament Champions, qualifying them for the State Championship.  They also won the Create Award, which is presented to the team whose robot design incorporates a creative engineering solution to the design challenges of the season’s game.

Students on the team include:

  • Nick Smith
  • Nasario Munoz
  • Jason Kinden
  • Diego Martinez
  • Joaquin Littlefield.

 

Team 5148G from Greenville Middle School got 9th place overall and won the Build Award which is presented to a team that has built a well-crafted and constructed robot.

Those members include:

  • Kyle Pierce
  • Jillian Shepherd
  • Emery Clayton
  • Jose Rios

Other team accomplishments include:

  • Andy Valentine, Jace Franklin, Michael Adeluyi, William Price, and Kamrin Hill from team 5148E @ GMS won 3rd place overall
  • Xavier Sims, Alex Hernandez, Joanna Ibarra, Jaylynn Ocanas from SGC team 3138B won 6th place overall
  • Team members Noah Davenport, Rhett Maner, Priscilla Quezadas, Brandon Lambre from team 3148J @ SGC won 7th place overall
  • Team 3148M Kaden Waters, Reagan Goggins, George Alexander, Matthew Pennington, Lukas Ogle & team 31348 Noah Schafft, Kwynzarian Barrett, Colton Tice, Teejay Squier all from SGC won 10th place overall
