Congratulations to Dr. Cheri Waggoner, our January Hero of Hope!

Dr. Waggoner, a licensed specialist in school psychology, was nominated by a number of people.

"She is diligent with her work, and meticulous in making sure things are done effectively," L.P. Waters Early Childhood Learning Center Principal Sebastian Bozas wrote. "She is an advocate for kids ... kids that many times don't have an edvocate. She has been a blessing at L.P. Waters,"

Dr. Waggoner serves students on many campuses, and her impact is felt districtwide. She will be honored at the next school board meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15. She will also receive $100, thanks to Lone Star Credit Union, the official underwriter of Greenville ISD's Hero of Hope program. Also, she has already received a beautiful bouquet of flowers, donated by Adkisson's Florist.

Every month (September– May), one districtwide Hero of Hope is selected and honored at the School Board meeting. Whether you are a student, parent, employee or community member, please take the time to nominate your Hero of Hope by filling out a form located in every Greenville ISD campus and building. "One of the greatest opportunities we have as educators is to change the life of a child," Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins said. "Since that is the most important focus of our work, this is one of the highest honors we can give to an employee."
