Greenville ISD wins 11 Star Awards for Excellence in Communications

Greenville ISD won 11 awards from the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) for excellence in school communications.

 

“These awards reflect the great stories that are taking place each and every day in our classrooms,” Chief Communications Officer Helen Williams said. “Our focus is always on our students and teachers and supporting them in the remarkable work they do."

 

The awards were presented during the 2019 TSPRA Annual Conference. Professional judges evaluated more than 1,400 submissions statewide and selected winners based on criteria set by TSPRA. School districts were judged among three separate categories: less than 10,000 students, 10,000 to 30,000 students, and more than 30,000 students. GISD earned the following awards:

  • Best in State Award and Gold Star Award for The Future Begins Here billboard
  • Gold Star Award or the Greenville ISD website
  • Gold Star Award for photography for “The Eyes Have It!”
  • Gold Star Award for photography for “Learning is Messy”
  • Gold Star Award for writing for the story “Internship Puts Student in the Driver’s Seat”
  • Silver Star Award for photography for “Telling our story at the crack of dawn on East Texas radio waves
  • Silver Star Award for photography for “Cook for the Cooks”
  • Silver Star Award for Spotlight on Fine Arts (special event)
  • Silver Star Award for Golden Lions Luncheon (special event)
  • Silver Star Award for Spotlight on Fine Arts (flyer)

 

The Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) is a nonprofit, professional organization dedicated to promoting public schools through effective communications. TSPRA, an award-winning chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA), was chartered in 1962 and incorporated in 1977. With more than 900 members, TSPRA is comprised primarily of public information and communications professionals who serve the public school districts and education organizations of Texas.
