This week has been one for the books

Reading in class, at home, in nooks

Boys and girls of all ages

Turning so many pages

Loving tales with twists, turns and hooks!

Students at Greenville ISD elementary schools have been celebrating reading in all sorts of ways this week. Guest readers are visiting classes to read aloud, and grownups and kids alike are dressing up to celebrate the upcoming birthday of the iconic Dr. Seuss.

This annual celebration is part of Read Across America, which encourages a love of reading. Here are some of the fun Friday activities:

  • Travis Elementary / Sixth Grade Center has declared Friday "Dr. Seuss Day," and grownups and students will honor the author by reading his books and dressing as their favorite Seuss characters.
  • L.P. Waters and all GISD elementary schools will host guest readers to read aloud to students.
