Congratulations to Karen Milton, our March Hero of Hope!

Ms. Milton, is a beloved GISD nurse who selflessly serves the students and staff at Carver Elementary.  She is in her 24th year with GISD and her fifth year as a part of the Carver Cool Cat family.

Noel Barres, GISD Health Services Coordinator, describes Karen Milton has one of the hardest working people she knows.

"Most days she stays until dinner to get her work done," Barres said. "Emergencies are well cared for under Ms. Milton's watch!"

Carver Principal Stacie Wilson says Milton takes care of the students and staff, regardless of the situation.

"She always has a smile on her face, even when her office is full of students," Wilson said.

"I can't think of another job I'd rather do," Ms. Milton said.  "I love GISD!"

Milton will be honored at the next school board meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26. She will also receive $100, thanks to Lone Star Credit Union, the official underwriter of Greenville ISD's Hero of Hope program. Also, she has already received a beautiful bouquet of flowers, donated by Adkisson's Florist.

Every month (September– May), one districtwide Hero of Hope is selected and honored at the School Board meeting. Whether you are a student, parent, employee or community member, please take the time to nominate your Hero of Hope by filling out a form located in every Greenville ISD campus and building. You may also email nominations to Communications@greenvilleisd.com.

"One of the greatest opportunities we have as educators is to change the life of a child," Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins said. "Since that is the most important focus of our work, this is one of the highest honors we can give to an employee."
