GISD VEX Robotics Teams wrap up a great competition season!

This past weekend our middle school VEX IQ teams headed to the state championship in Dallas, TX to compete against 40 top teams in North Texas. 6 teams from the 6th grade center and 3 teams from the Middle School qualified for the event either by winning a regional tournament or by having a high state robot skills ranking. Five of our nine teams from GISD made it into the finals round of this competition.

Team 5148C (Nick Smith, Nasario Munoz, Jason Linden, Diego Martinez, Joaquin Littlefield) from GMS placed second and team 3148A placed in fifth (Miles Wiggins, Ian Kowalczyk, Joseph Queazadas, Tegan Harmon) in the team competition challenge. In the individual skills competition, team 5148E (Andy Valentine, Jace Franklin, Michael Adeluyi, William Price, Kamrin Hill) ended up finishing in fourth place overall.

Our elementary schools also had their state championship in Garland TX this weekend with 2 teams from the STEM center representing the district in that event. 148D (Urban Casper, Aiden Munoz, Christian Vidal, Silas Hill) placed 8th in the event.

This marks the end of a very successful season for the VEX IQ Teams in the district with 6 tournament wins and 11 technical awards.
