We have the greatest teachers, who know how to make learning fun. Our kindergarten students learn how to read, write, add, and even subtract! You will be amazed by how much your child will learn this year!
#2: New Friends!
One of the best parts of kindergarten is making new friends. It’s a time when children are growing socially by playing together, listening, sharing and learning in groups.
#3: Art & Music!
Children build brain power by drawing, singing, dancing and expressing themselves. Creativity is not only fun; it is critical to developing innovative skills and confidence. Sometimes, students discover talents they never knew they had by trying new arts activities!
#4 Recess & Fitness!
Children exercise their bodies and brains during recess and sports! Recess is unstructured play where children can use their imagination to invent new games and just run around the playground and take a break from class. There are also structured activities like sports and games that teach children how to learn and respect rules and how be a valuable team member, and how to win and lose with grace.
#5 Character!
Children learn to become good citizens during kindergarten and throughout their years in GISD schools. It’s important that we learn about our community, our country and our neighbors, even at this young age. We train all our employees using the nationally renowned Capturing Kids’ Hearts program, which focuses on how to first establish a relationship and rapport with students to open the doors to learning.
In Greenville ISD, we believe that building excellent character is one of the most important areas of all.
We hope that you will sign your kindergartner up and join our family, along with you, our parents, who are the most important partners in the education of your child. There are lots of opportunities for parents to get involved.
If your child is already enrolled in the 4-year-old program at L.P. Waters, they will advance to kindergarten in their neighborhood schools. You’ll only need to update your child’s information during GISD’s annual online registration in July.
So, if you have a little one who will be 5 by Sept. 1 and is not already advancing from L.P. Waters, you’ll want to sign him or her up for our outstanding FREE kindergarten program offered at five neighborhood schools. Click HERE to find your attendance zone.
