Clean out your closets & help GISD students!

bin

Clothing donation bins are popping up on all Greenville ISD campuses this month.

They are part of a new partnership between GISD and Charity Clothing Pickup, which operates in several states to benefit nonprofit organizations, including school districts.

The clothes donated to the GISD bins will be sold to Family Thrift, which buys them by the bag, and proceeds will go back to GISD, where they will be used for campus projects. Family Donations Manager John Schmidt estimates that the clothing bins could generate as much as $500 to $1,000 per month.

“This clothing donation system allows people to clean out their closets and help the children in their communities,” he said. “We also work with veterans’ groups and other non-profits. It’s a win-win. It reduces waste, recycles clothing and raises money for great causes.”

We will keep you posted on how much the Charity Clothing Pickup bins generate for GISD and how the funds will be used. Please bring your donations to any GISD campus.
