GEEF grants bring innovation to life at campuses across GISD

Each year, the Greenville Educational Enrichment Foundation (GEEF) raises funds for grants and innovative programs for GISD students and teachers.  GEEF is a non-profit organization of volunteer board members that serves to further strengthen the Greenville Independent School District and provide opportunities not funded by state or local means.

Each spring, teachers & GISD staff members are given an opportunity to complete a grant application. Grant projects must present an innovative, creative approach to either an identified student need within the established GISD curriculum framework or be a student-based project. An individual can receive a maximum amount of $1,000 or $5,000 for a campus/department or group project.

Last year, GEEF awarded $30,000 in grants.  Some examples of awarded projects are:

  • A Sensory Path in the hall for our 3- and 4-year olds @ LP Waters
  • Growing a greener Greenville tower gardens @ Bowie Elementary
  • A symbiotic hydroponic growing system for the GHS Ag Department
  • Vex Robotics work benches and safety upgrades @ GMS

GEEF is continually inspired to fund classroom projects, and we are only able to meet our fundraising goals when GISD staff, parents and our community endorse our efforts!
