GISD closing all campuses and other facilities all week due to COVID-19 exposure
Greenville ISD will be shutting all campuses and district facilities all week (Monday, Nov. 16-Friday, Nov. 20) due to a rise in the number of COVID-19 cases and exposures across the district. We realize the stress this causes for everyone, but COVID exposures have put more than 10% of our staff and students in quarantine. With so many people out, on campus classes cannot be covered, even using all available staff and substitute teachers.
We are committed to continuing instruction all week from home. Here is the plan:
For teachers and students who already have devices at home, instruction will occur synchronously on the usual bell schedule.
Students who need a hotspot, please contact your campus main office for assistance.
There are four campuses (L.P. Waters, Bowie, Carver and Lamar) where students may not already have devices at home. Device pickup will occur from 8 a.m.- noon Monday, November 16, at those campuses.
Grab and go meals will be provided from 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. at the following campuses – for all campuses. (Please select the campus that is most convenient)
G.W. Carver Elementary
Greenville High School
STEM @ Crockett
Travis/Sixth Grade Center (an additional hour at T6 for grab-n-go meals will be from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.)
Athletics: Coaches will be in touch about practice and game schedules.
Thanksgiving Break will be Nov. 23-27, and by not congregating on campuses for the next two weeks, we are hoping to slow the spread of COVID-19 among our staff, students and families. We thank you for your patience as we make adjustments with the health of our GISD family as our top priority.
