Students explore college and career options at College Night

2021 College Night Student Slider Collage

It's never too early to think about college! That's why GISD students and their families attended College Night May 11 at Greenville High School.

They heard from several experts, ranging from the Texas A&M-Commerce President to a GISD graduate who shared her journey to college and navigation tips.

After they visited with representatives from a wide variety of programs at Paris Junior College and A&M-Commerce, students rolled up their sleeves and got to work on applying for college, applying for scholarships and financial aid in the computer lab. Here was the schedule of events:

  • 5:30 p.m. Mix and Mingle: Snacks, prizes and casual conversation and introductions
  • 6 p.m. Expert Speakers:
    • Texas A&M-Commerce President Dr. Mark Rudin
    • GISD Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins
    • Paris Junior College Vice President of Student Access and Success Shelia Reece
    • Texas A&M-Commerce Assistant Director of Intercultural Engagement & Leadership Cynthia Rios
  • 6:30 p.m. Help Centers: There were rows of help tables, where educators answered questions about college programs and guided students through the application process.

It was a great evening of conversation and exploration!
