Heath Jarvis has been named GISD's Chief Human Resources Officer.

Jarvis is a beloved Greenville native who has committed his life to serving this community. He has been the principal of Greenville High School since 2009. He also served as principal, teacher and coach at Greenville Middle School. In addition, he was a teacher and varsity football coach and head girl's track coach for GHS for 10 years. During his coaching tenure, the Lions made the playoffs nine years in a row, and the girl's track team won seven district championships.

“I have and I always will enjoy working in Greenville. This is home and I enjoy all the people here in the community. It has been a blessing to work with the students, parents and staff of Greenville High School," Jarvis said.

“I have a lot fun going to work at the high school every day, and I have enjoyed the relationships that have developed through the years. It is a very special place to be a part of, and it has been an honor. I love those Greenville kids.”

Jarvis said in his new role as Chief of Human Resources, he is looking forward to working with and developing relationships with staff members across GISD.

"From listening to our principals and other administrators in our district, we have a caring, dedicated, and hardworking staff that cares so much about our students and will do whatever it takes to help them be successful. And that means so much to me because I was one of those students in this district, and I know now how much their guidance and lessons have helped me in my life," he said.

Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins said he is thrilled to have Jarvis leading the Human Resources Department.

"I cannot imagine a more ideal candidate to attract and retain the very best people to work with our students," Liggins said. "Heath is highly revered in Greenville, and he brings high ethical standards and outstanding people skills to the job. He is simply the perfect fit."

Jarvis earned a bachelor’s degree in 1992 from East Texas State University and a master's degree in 2003 from Texas A&M-Commerce.

He is married to Jenny Jarvis, and they have two sons, Jacob and Caleb. Jenny works for Texas Destination Imagination and is the operations and relations administrator. Jacob is a teacher/coach at Greenville High School, and Caleb is a student at Texas A&M-Commerce.

Congratulations, Mr. Jarvis!
