Dr. Michelle “Shellie” Baird has been named the Director of STEM Programs for Greenville ISD.

Dr. Baird has loved being a member of the Greenville ISD family for the past six years where she has served as principal for G.W. Carver Elementary, assistant principal for SPED at Greenville Middle School and most recently principal at L.P. Waters.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to impact all students in GISD and support all things STEM,” Baird said. “My hope is to grow our STEM programs district-wide and strengthen partnerships with our community stakeholders.”

Deputy Superintendent Sharon Boothe said Dr. Baird knows how to make learning engaging and a memorable experience for every child.

“I cannot think of a better person to bring her passion into action through STEM programs and initiatives,” Boothe said. “As the new Greenville ISD Director of STEM Programs, Dr. Baird will provide leadership and vision district-wide for PreK-12 through instruction, curriculum and professional development offerings. The theme: Come Grow With Us could never be more appropriate as it is for the district-wide STEM program to take focus through Dr. Baird’s appointment to this position.”

Dr. Baird earned her degrees from Texas A&M University Commerce and is proud to be Forever a Lion!

She is married to Steve Baird and they have two daughters, Chase and Bailey. Steve works as a team manager for ADT Security Systems. Chase is a recent graduate of the University of North Texas earning a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Bailey will be a senior at North Forney High School where the Baird family resides. They enjoy hanging out at home and playing games together in their spare time.
