Sherry Fair has been named Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for Greenville ISD.

Ms. Fair has been with Greenville ISD for 22 years and has served in several roles during her time with the district. Most recently, Ms. Fair has been an assistant principal at Greenville High School. She also served two years as an assistant principal with Travis/Sixth Grade Center and four years in the same position at L.P. Waters Early Childhood Center. Prior to that, Ms. Fair spent five years as an educational coordinator and 10 years as a teacher at L.P. Waters.

The Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion role is new to the district and Ms. Fair is eager to begin her work.

“I’m looking forward to creating an awareness of equity for all our students, parents, staff and the community members of Greenville,” Ms. Fair said.

Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins said he is excited to have Ms. Fair’s experience for this position.

“Ms. Fair has an extensive background as an educator and working with various student groups in GISD. She has always shown a commitment to be inclusive and fair in her instructional and leadership capacities with both staff and students,” Liggins said.  “She is the perfect fit for the district’s Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.”

Ms. Fair started her career in education as a teacher to our youngest students. She earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from East Texas State University in 2000 and followed that with a master’s degree in education administration from Texas A&M-Commerce in 2008.

She is the mother of two children who both have military backgrounds. Ms. Fair is active with her church and serves as a Sunday school teacher.
