David Stone has been promoted to Director of Technology for Greenville ISD.

Mr. Stone started his career in education with Greenville ISD in 2007 as a computer technician. He has since held the roles of systems administrator and IT project manager with the district. Prior to coming to the district, he worked as a financial analyst for a hospital center.

Mr. Stone believes in the work that he does and knows that it impacts the everyone in GISD.

“We have a really good team here at GISD that supports each other,” Mr. Stone said. “That helps us support the students and staff of the district.”

Chief Information Officer Shannon Fulp said Mr. Stone will be a perfect fit to lead the technology department.

“David is the very example of a team player and an invaluable asset to Greenville ISD,” Fulp said. “For 14 years he has been behind the scenes on nights and weekends keeping our infrastructure up and running. He deeply understands all the intricacies of our technology equipment and used that knowledge this year to get us through one of the hardest years for our department.”

Mr. Stone started his career in technology while he was in the Air Force as a computer technician and network administrator. During his time in the military, he earned his bachelor’s degree in computer programming from Wayland Baptist University. In 2018, he earned his master’s degree in technology management from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

He is married to Heather Stone and has two children. He enjoys learning about new topics, especially technology systems that allow him to grow professionally.
