Four NHHS Graduates Ring the Bell on the Same Day

The graduation bell just wouldn't stop ringing on Friday, when four New Horizons High School students graduated -- all on the same day!

"Today was one for the record books," NHHS Principal Mark Loya said. "I don't think we've ever had four scholars graduate in one day so early in the spring semester. You can imagine how overjoyed our NHHS family was, as they came to the front to celebrate the ringing of the bell."

The bell-ringing tradition has added excitement to graduation at NHHS. Students wear full graduation regalia and have their own personal ceremony. Graduates' families and friends gather with campus students and staff in the foyer, and the graduate rings the heavy antique bell.

Congratulations to Friday's NHHS graduates, who are the 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th scholars to earn their diplomas this school year:

  • Sierra Stone
  • Benito Garcia
  • Garrett West
  • Hailey Potts

NHHS is a non-traditional high school that combines self-paced, online instruction and traditional classroom instruction to achieve graduation. Students graduate when they have completed the coursework, rather than at the end of the academic year.

Some students choose New Horizons because of its flexibility and individual attention from teachers. Our New Horizons graduates go on to four-year universities, community colleges, the military and the workforce, just as our traditional graduates do.

The bell is not only a grand beauty to behold; it also represents hope for the scholars who are working to earn their diplomas.
